Seline Burn (1995*) studied illustration at Hochschule Design Film Kunst in Lucerne. She lives and works in Fribourg, Switzerland.
Drawn to the residue that intimacy leaves behind, and to the moments in which closeness tips into distance, Burn's painting practice unfolds in oil across dense, worked surfaces, built up through overlapping passages of pigment and the occasional interruption of pastel.
Figures caught kneeling, reaching, or turned away, alongside fragments of the everyday and nature
(a deck chair, a pond full of fish, chess pieces), recur across her canvases, often held within fields of shadow that read as much as psychological space as physical setting. Within these compositions, Burn lets certain passages remain unresolved or half-lit, using that withheld clarity to hold her subjects, vulnerability, memory, the self observed, in a state of only partial disclosure.
