Seline Burn (b. 1995) is an artist based in Basel, Switzerland.
Her painting, which draws influences from symbolism, conjures evocative images where intimacy and radical strangeness are delicately balanced in a practice that she understands as an on-going personal diary.
The figures depicted are often in a dreamy, introverted state and seem sleepy or turned away from their surrounding.
This way of exploring inner worlds is reminiscent of the symbolic painting of the 19th century, here brought to the present by the garish color palette of the artist, and points to the presence of ancestral myths.
